Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury
Genre: Action/RPG
Developed by: Webfoot
Released in:
USA, PAL (2004) as "Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury"

For most of the game, the save circles will be in the large 'Capsule Corp' style. In HFIL, however, you may find a few odd-looking ones...

When everyone first arrives at the tournament, one of the opponents, Jewel, will be standing by the door. During the ending sequence, Jewel will still be standing there.

Goten and Idasa's hair are still in the same place when Trunks moves onto the Tournament ring, and Idasa's second pair of hair even moves with him.

Webfoot obviously supports cloning in the audience. Satan is falling over, but I think he's flying! Whee!

After the Videl VS Supopovich battle, Goku will go to Karin's place (located just below 'Kami's Lookout') to get a Senzu Bean. Get one from Yajirobee, eat it, and return to Gohan. Gohan will 'take' the Bean. Check your inventory once you regain control, and you'll never have to worry about healing again.

For the stylish Saiyans.

It's a shame costumes don't actually make any visual difference. Otherwise, we could see Vegeta running around under a blanket!

Note the "Gokuu". Oh, Webfoot, throwing 'jokes' in that only obsessed fans would get!

Just after defeating the 'Boss' of the Airship (and you can do this twice in the game) the character will flat out say they can't save, since the ship is (unsurprisingly) under self-destruct mode!

When Gotenks is fused for the first time, he is naturally cocky, and flies off to fight Majin Buu. Turn right around and head back to the Lookout, and Piccolo will simply be standing there. Talk to him, and he'll pipe out one of my favorite lines...

Since Piccolo has been reduced to the role of an NPC, he's been preprogrammed to only do or say certain things. When he's not 'actively involved', he'll pipe this line out. Above are: Goku speaking to him just before Goku heads off to fight Majin Buu, Gotenks just before he's about to head off to fight Buu, and Vegita after the defeat of Majin Buu.

Piccolo, you are the strongest after all!

If you fight Janemba during the first round as SSj3 Goku and manage to maintain that form while beating him, then 'beat him' the second time around with Vegita, Goku will still retain the SSj3 form when he goes to Vegita's side. When they go to form the 'Fusion Dance', a sprite of SSj3 Goku remains there. It stays there until you leave the screen.

Apparently, the developers neglected to make all of the cliff wall background material.

Just before you pound through the gateway to Super Buu, switch to Vegita, and put him into SSj mode. Switch back to Goku, and pound through. While Vegita will be in SSj form, his photo will show him in regular.

What's the result of an SSj/SSj2 and an SSj3? Why, a base Saiyan, of course.

Fighting the 'image clones' inside Buu's head seems a bit buggy. Against Gotenks, you can simply walk past them and head directly left (use the uppermost part of the path). Against Gohan, there does not seem to be a way to escape the battle, but you can dodge Piccolo's. Doing this and then reentering the screen will cause the sprite to remain inactive, unless you walk directly in front of it (which reactivates its programming).

While the final batttle against Buu is raging on, everyone on Earth is revived. Are they clipping, or are they floating?

It happened in Legacy of Goku 2, it happens again in Buu's Fury.

Even though Goku had gained Vegeta's respect by this point, Vegeta would have still called him "Kakkarot".

A mostly unstated rule: Goku cannot form the Genki Dama, aka "Spirit Bomb" while in a state higher than normal or Kaio-ken. However, the game treats this differently. If you can hold onto SSj3 during Goku's second round with Buu, you will form the final attack as an SSj3. Note the extra Buu behind Goku. This was an extra clone created during the actual fight and left behind by this coding. Had this happened during the series, that final attack would've been useless.

After the defeat of Majin Buu, you return to Earth. Heading to the doors leading to the Capsule Corporation's Atrium will ask you if you're ready for the end. Answer "no" and you can head inside. The grill can be walked through, and the fountain lacks something to keep Goku from clipping inside.

During the series, Tenshinhan appears to (1) deflect a blast aimed at Dende and Mr. Satan by Majin Buu, and (2) contribute energy to Goku's Genki Dama. Despite this, this is the only time he appears throughout the entire game.

During the ending sequence, you'll first see Gohan in the clothes he wore to high school, despite having worn them in his teens. At the tournament ring side, you'll see Gohan in the clothes he had Kibito form for him, despite the fact that they were formed years ago.
